Through two decades in the utility and energy sector, Ruta has developed a passion for the delivering environmental and social impact also in engaging young people in the industry. Ruta has set out to disrupt and accelerate approaches to supporting creation of future skills and empower young people through educational technology.
Susan Sharp
Portfolio Delivery Lead
Susan is an experienced change manager leading programmes of change across digital transformation, software development, business change and cloud migrations for small and large international clients. For Skewb Climate she leads all delivery aspects for the team. She is involved in the proposal, design, build, test and deployment of all modules and campaigns. Susan is responsible for overall governance and reporting assurance across our Skewb Climate portfolio. Susan has a BSc in Industrial Engineering.
Susan was born and bred in the Deep South in Georgia; USA but has been living in Britain for the past 22 years. She lives in Harpenden with her wonderful family. A hubby, two teenage daughters and, last but not least, is Uno the small black cockapoo! As a family they love to travel – in the summer they head to a beach or Disney World and in winter they will be skiing down black runs!
Donna Davies
Digital Skills and Education Lead
Donna has worked in utilities for several years and previous roles include Planning Manager for Connections, Performance Management and Head of Inspire Academy for Northern Gas Networks. Donna is a Learning and Development specialist who will be developing the Talent & Skills Lab, which focuses on immersive and inclusive training for adults.
Donna is a published author and co-founder of a non-profit focused on perinatal mental health, developing a self-identification tool for expectant and new mums, working with the NHS and campaigning for improved support services. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her children, reading, and travelling.
Brendán Strohm
Business Analyst
With a focus on project delivery, Brendán helps ensure that all our modules achieve their learning goals and are completed to the high standard expected from clients. Brendán is also involved with in person school and industry events, module storyboarding, user testing sessions and more.
Brendán graduated from the University of Exeter in 2021 with an honour’s degree in Zoology. He describes the highlight of his university experience being when he had the opportunity to conduct a study on the iconic Darwin’s finch species in the Galápagos. Outside of work, Brendán is an avid traveller and scuba diver who loves to explore new countries, cultures and foods all whilst, with limited success, trying to brush up on his photography skills.
Lewis Hill
Senior Developer
Lewis is a Developer with experience in both Web and Game development. After achieving a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Games Technology from Bournemouth University in 2018, Lewis went on join the water industry as an IT Technician, and then eventually into a Web Developer role at the same company, developing tools for both employees and customers alike. Lewis will be using his past experiences and expertise to help build interactive games at Skewb.
Lewis has a passion in both playing and developing games in his personal time, having a keen interest in the industry. He is enthralled by the idea of using gaming tools and technology to gamify and create immersive and entertaining environments for education, training, and development tools. Lewis lives in a small town on the border of the Cotswolds with his wife.
Ben Fowler
Technical Lead
Ben is our technical lead known for his expertise in creating immersive digital experiences. He collaborates with Skewb Climate to develop interactive learning environments that cater to diverse backgrounds and abilities. Prior to joining Skewb Climate, Ben designed accredited training courses for aerospace and military organizations, demonstrating his commitment to excellence and collaboration with industry experts. At Skewb Climate, Ben utilises his programming skills and experience running his own game studio to enhance user outcomes.
Beyond his professional work, Ben is an enthusiastic gamer who enjoys both building and deconstructing digital worlds. His curiosity and passion for gaming drive him to explore new frontiers and continually innovate. With a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, Ben strives to create meaningful experiences that resonate with a wide audience.
Alex Mcardell
Technical Artist
Alex is a technical artist at Skewb Climate. He has worked as an illustrator and designer for the last 10 years and his work has been featured on the world-famous IDW comic series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Gamesworkshops’ Warhammer animated series “Hammer and Bolter” where he was the lead background artist.
He has also worked as a storyboard artist and his artwork has been used in advertising campaigns for companies such as Nike, Puma, Amazon, and starred the likes of Ariana Grande and Cara Delevingne.
Alex lives by the beach in North Wales with his yellow Labrador Iorek. Outside of his work as an artist, Alex is an avid reader and enjoys creative writing, sculpting and painting. He is also a practicing hypnotherapist, Qigong and Tai Chi teacher.
Mikhail Malkin
Game Artist
Mikhail Malkin is a Game Artist at Skewb Climate. With more than a decade of experience in game development, he started his path as a mobile and casual game illustrator and proceeded to educational games and experiences.
With a background in printing and a classical book illustrator degree, Mikhail’s approach to game art is very similar to the process of creating a series of book illustrations, every image serves to deliver a unique, clear visual message to accompany the story.
Outside of work, Mikhail enjoys interactive narrative design, improv theatre and voice acting. For half a decade he is an active member of UK Tabletop Industry Networking where he donates his time as a community spokesperson, cultural consultant and educator.
